(68000254) Is This Tower Safe To Climb?
VIDEO 2010-11-09
This video provides first line managers and technicians with the information needed to perform an initial evaluation of a towers structural condition. The FAA uses a variety of towers to support navigation, communication, weather, and surveillance equipment. Some of these towers are over fifty years old and have been used to host several different types of equipment. Several factors and forces present the potential for accidents and injury stemming from tower-related work, including the aging NAS infrastructure, the impact of weather, and facility maintenance performed at a variety of levels. Climbers can mitigate this risk to some extent by performing a preliminary appraisal of a tower.
