This course is for FAA Safety and Health Specialists that intend to teach Hearing Conservation (Hands-On Training) FAA68000215 OR Hearing Conservation Hands on Component (Train the Trainer) FAA68000278 OR Hearing Conservation (Instructor-led and PPE) FAA68000292 OR Hearing Conservation Standard Threshold Shift (STS) FAA68000235. Once completed, participants will be able to identify and comply with HCP requirements; Participants will be able to describe and demonstrate to the instructor the appropriate purpose, advantages, limitations, attenuation factor, selection, donning, fitting, use, and maintenance of various hearing protective devices (HPDs); Participants will be able to successfully train others in the four hearing conservation courses; Participants will be able to describe the effects of noise and ototoxins on hearing and to define Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL); Participants will be able to identify the hazardous noise sources in both occupational and non-occupational environments; and Participants will be able to investigate cases of Standard Threshold Shift (STS), and provide instructions to employees on how to avoid noise exposure with proper use of HPDs.
