This class provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to investigate a Civil Aircraft Accident. U.S. and International legal rules and procedures pertaining to aircraft accident investigation are reviewed. It includes instruction on the entire process, from when the NTSB receives the initial notification that an accident has occurred through the issuance of the final report and determination of the accident's probable cause, information on how to document and protect an accident scene, instruction on what questions to ask accident witnesses to elicit the most accurate information, the difference between structural failures that may have caused the accident and structural damage that occurred as a result of the accident.
