COURSE 2006-02-09
Training required for all employees who lockout or tagout machines or equipment in order to perform servicing and maintenance. This includes all ATSS employees, maintenance mechanics and maintenancne mechanic helpers. Additional training is required when there is a change in job assignment, a change in equipment or process that presents a new hazard, whenever there is a change in the energy control procedure or when there has been an employee injury related to the use of the Lockout/Tagout Program. FAA certficies that this training meets the requirements as outlines in 29 CFR 1910.147. Training combines classroom instruction with hands-on exercieses and demonstration. Upon completion, students shall demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize: Applicable hazardous energy sources, type and magnitude of the hazardous energy available in the workplace, and methods and means necessary for hazardous energy isolation and control within the scope of their job duties and assignments. This shall inculde intensive training in all aspects of hazardous energy control procedures in their workplace, proper utilization, with all relevant information about equipment being services. When a large number of hazardous energy control procedures exist in any given workplace, training may be beased on a sample of these procedures. However, the sample must include ALL the skills, knowledge and techniques the authorized person is expected to know and use. Employees shall also be instructed on the disciplinary actions that may result for violating Lockout/Tagout Program procedures and policies.
