The purpose of this training is to provide new AIR Aerospace Safety Engineers (ASEs) with an overview of the technical knowledge they will require to perform their jobs effectively.Subjects include the history of US Governments involvement in aviation, how aviation safety practices, rules, regulations and procedures came about. Providing AIR's ASEs an understanding Roles, and Responsibilities of the Aircraft Certification processes, Regulations and Policy, for aircraft and associated products, and ensuring their continued safety. This includes understanding aircraft systems, their types of operations, and their operating environments and their effects, the correction process when airworthiness issues are discovered, the application and certification process, including working with applicants, various FAA ASEs and other AIR and US Government personnel, also those representing the FAA for certification processes, military, and foreign governments. This course includes practical group exercises relating to the different Type Certifications, Oversight and Delegation, and Continued Operational Safety. Initial training for AIR ASE, and those managing AIR ASEs. Prerequisite: None FAA AIR POC: 9-AVS-AIR-OrganizationalDevelopment@faa.gov Length: 100 hours over a 5 week period.
