INACTIVE: 1/31/2012. This course has been replaced by FAA25812 revision 3 (online). The purpose of this course is to provide participants with: A background on the historical evolution of automatic control systems and design practices; An understanding of the basic functional architectures of automatic controls systems; Knowledge of where to look for automation design safety vulnerabilities, using better insight in the control stategies and design approaches employed. Audience: FAA Systems Engineers with a limited background in aiplane flight dynamics and automatic control systems and Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) who review and approve automatic flight control/flight management systems designs
