FAA27000059 Active
(27000059) Managing Safety in the FAA
BRIEFING 2025-01-10
This briefing is an annual requirement. This compelling 15-minute briefing provides a high-level overview and explains the key components of the FAA Safety Management System (SMS). It describes the Safety Risk Management (SRM) process as an integral component of the system and presents strategies for promoting a robust safety culture within the FAA. The course features a short video illustrating the risks and consequences of non-compliance with safety management. This course is required for all FAA employees (excluding ATO employees who take a similar course tailored to the ATO) and recommended upon assuming an FAA executive/management position. The target audience for the course is all FAA employees, including executives and managers. Though many executives are already familiar with the FAA SMS and SRM terminology, a deeper understanding of the intent and responsibility should be impressed upon this audience. The ultimate goal of the briefing is to encourage all executives and managers to promote and strengthen the safety culture within the FAA and to increase awareness of the FAA SMS to all employees.
