This is a field conducted course. This course provides training for Technical Operations System specialists and Engineers on the Mark 20/20A Instrument Landing System (ILS). Lecture subjects include directives and documentation necessary for the maintenance of ILS, Continuity of Service (COS), ILS CAT 1,2,3 Requirements, and ILS flight inspection. The following equipment is presented in this course: Mark 20/20A Localizers, Mark 20/20A Glide Slopes, including Capture Effect Glideslope (CEGS) theory, Mark 20/20C marker beacon, RICE, LCU. The hands-on lab exercises reinforce the materials presented during the lecture. An emphasis on alignments and troubleshooting is provided in the Academy lab. Four graded written exams and three equipment proficiency exams are administered during the resident course. | |||
