This operators course provides training to Airway Transportation System Specialists (ATSS) who are responsible for the Navigational Aids (NAVAIDS) Monitoring Equipment (NME) system as well as Air Traffic (AT), Technical Operations (TO) personnel responsible for NME Administrative tasks and Technical Operations Control Centers (TOCC). NME provides a consolidated control and monitoring of airfield navigation equipment. Course subjects include: NME Overview, Tower Control Display Unit (TCDU) Interface overview and TCDU types, Approach lighting systems, Auxiliary equipment and NME system alarm conditions. Lab exercises include: Requesting TCDU control of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) and Approach Lighting systems (ALS). Controlling individual Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), Approach Lighting Systems (ALS), Acknowledging Alerts, Runway Visual Range (RVR) and Low Visibility Alarm Threshold (LVAT) and controlling multiple ILS and ALS systems.
