This briefing provides training for Airway Transportation System Specialists (ATSS) personnel with the knowledge to better understand, use, and maintain the Store and Forward Appliance (SAFA). Specialists will be provided an overview of the SAFA infrastructure and equipment and provided instructions on how to operate the system. The SAFA system is being deployed in the connection between the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) and System Wind Information Management (SWIM) Terminal Data Distribution System (STDDS) to store and provide a complete record of STARS data to STDDS in the event of a communications outage. Training topics to include: STDDS Enterprise Framework and the role of the SAFA system, SAFA Hardware Technical Description, SAFA Monitor and Control Display (MCD), SAFA Status Indicators, SAFA Notification Panel, Site Monitor Tool (SMT), SAFA Equipment Turn-on and Checkout Process, SAFA Equipment Shutdown Process and the SAFA Monitor Control Display (MCD) Control Functions, SAFA maintenance requirements, maintenance standards and tolerances, performance checks, and other related tasks, process for obtaining SAFA technical support, process for reporting SAFA security events and the process of performing troubleshooting on SAFA System, SAFA System Support Modification Process, steps to prepare for the modification and the steps to perform the modification
