Description: Training consists of 36 hrs of in depth training on fall protection. Employee must acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the requirements of a competent person and to adequately perform climbing duties and rescue operations in accordance with the FAA Natioanal Order, JO 3900.63 Fall Protection Program. Successful completion of this course enables the employee to be considered a competent person, an Authorized Person Climber and able to perform select rescue operations of fellow employees should an incident occur. Training covers applicable standards and regulations, recognition and assessment of fall hazards, equipment selection and inspection, selection and use of personal fall arrest systems and anchor systems and requirements of the WSA Fall Protection Program. Training also includes instruction on rescue theory, technique, equipment (MSA Deployed Rescue System utilizing the Anthron Descender) and rescue plans. Extensive practical skill testing on climbing techniques including training on and off MSA ladder-rail (Dyna-glide) systems, FAA fall arrest systems and practical rescue techniques will be conducted during the class. Each employee must demonstrate proficiency on FAA rescue methods utilizing the MSA Deployed Rescue System with Anthron Descender. FAA rescue methods include Assisted Rescue and Self Rescue and will be performed in accordance with the WSA Tower Rescue. | |||
