COURSE | 2023-06-06 | ||
Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) operations in the National Airspace System (NAS) continue its increased footprint, resulting in new policies and procedures. This change evolution increases the demand for up-to-date training materials to be readily available to ensure the safe and efficient integration of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) with day-to-day operations. Most notably, by September 15, 2023, most UASs will need a digital license plate to legally fly in the National Airspace System (NAS). In short, Remote ID will be an added requirement in most airspace unless overcome by rulemaking and, furthermore, does not forgo the requirement for Low Altitude Authorization Notification Capability (LAANC) authorization nor Certificate of Authorization (COA). Remote ID enables UASs in flight to transmit information similar to manned flight, including aircraft type and owner, location, and performance, to people on the ground and other airspace users. Recently, common UAS detection systems now employed in the NAS detect and track unmanned aircraft using radio frequency, radar, and electro-optical/infrared sensors. | |||
