This briefing will introduce the concept of powered-lift to air traffic personnel. The FAA envisions an aviation transportation system that will use piloted aircraft to transport passengers or cargo for hire in the near-term. This will be a collection of new and emerging technologies being applied to the existing aviation system, particularly in new aircraft types. Additionally, this briefing will provide a basic knowledge and understanding of powered-lift operations and present a collection of the types of use cases and unusual situations that could occur regarding powered-lift operations in the NAS. Upon completing the briefing, the target audience will be able to identify powered-lift, rotorcraft aircraft, fixed wing aircraft, Urban Air Mobility (UAM), Regional Air Mobility (RAM), recognize the FAAs current regulatory framework that will support the industrys effort to achieve near-term operations for powered-lift, and define the future vision of powered-lift operations.
