This 32-hour resident course is primarily geared towards experienced Airport Planners/Community Planners that have successfully completed the prerequisite course prior to attendance (the prerequisite can be self-assigned in eLMS via a catalog search for Airport Planning Criteria, Course FAA06401). Airport Planning related topics include the role of the airport planner, master plan and ALP narrative reports, wind analyses and runway orientation, forecasts and critical aircraft, alternatives analyses, ALPs and Exhibit A Property Maps, and project justification and financial feasibility/eligibility. Airport Design related topics include safety and protection areas, obstruction analyses, declared distances, runway and taxiway design, and RIM analyses. Course emphasis is on real-world experiences, as well as exercises and workshops in which participants will practice reviewing master plan and ALP sections to apply what theyve learned.
