The AVS OSH POC PROGRAM OVERVIEW course includes lecture and may include hands-on training that covers the following topics: bloodborne pathogens, respiratory protection, fall protection, hearing conservation, accident investigation safety, foot protection, personal protective equipment, radon, chemical safety, radiation, and asbestos, as well as other occupational safety and health topics. This course covers OSHA regulatory requirements as well as FAA AVS OSH program guidance and requirements. Subject areas include FAA Orders, roles and responsibilities of managers and employees, specific OSH program requirements, training, recordkeeping, program assessments and evaluations, information systems and reporting, OSHECCOMs, resources, and the role of the OSH POC. Other areas included in the course are background and history of safety and health, OSHA vs OSH comparison, OSH goals, OSHA rules and requirements, FAA OSH requirements, AFS OSH program requirements, the union's role, OSH program development, and future direction of the program. The subject areas will be dependent on program implementation for the service/office and therefore will be required annually. After successful completion of this course, students will understand program and regulatory requirements, have a broad knowledge of occupational safety and health programs, and be able to provide guidance and support to office program managers.
