| This course number is used to document Radiation Safety Measurements for FAA Radar training. This training is for individuals taking measurements of x-ray and RF radiation at long FAA radars. The purpose of the class is to give people hands-on training in the use of the Narda meter and the Victoreen meter. The Narda measures radio frequency (RF) radiation. The Victoreen measures x-ray radiation. Participants will be able to identify biological health effects from x-ray and RF radiation. Participants will be able to discuss the units of measure for x-ray and RF radiation. Participants will be able to discuss the controls measures that can be used for each type of radiation. Participants will be able to identify the three types of long range radars and the areas in each radar where an employee may be exposed to x-ray or RF radiation. Participants will be able to ship the Victoreen in accordance with the regulations in 49 CFR. Participants will be able to perform a field site check for the Victoreen and Narda. Participants will be able to take measurements of x-ray radiation with the Victoreen. Participants will be able to take measurements of RF radiation with the Narda. Participants will be able to develop an annual radiation survey report using the measurements and upload the report to the Radhaz database on-line. Upon completion of this training, employee should retain a copy of the training record and notify their supervisor and/or training POC so completion can be entered into their eLMS learning history. | |||
