(20000120) Blind Spots: Unconscious & Implicit Bias in the Workplace
COURSE 2022-04-28
The Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA)s FY 2021 2025 Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Strategic Plan focuses on leadership commitment, a culture of respect and inclusivity, and a diverse workforce. In AUS, one of our goals is to continue building a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive workforce based on mutual acceptance and trust. We recognize and encourage all of our employees differences regardless of national origin, language, race, color, disability, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, veteran status, family structures, political affiliation, and other characteristics that make our employees unique. To support our commitment to foster a culture of respect and inclusivity, the AUS Management Team offers our employees a learning session regarding unconscious and implicit bias. What is unconscious and implicit bias? We cant address it if we dont know what it is or how it shows up in our decision-making. Regardless of our ethnicity, gender, nationality or social economic background, and despite of how open-minded you may think you are; we are all guilty of unconscious bias. Sometimes it shows up as a fleeting thought as you pass someone on the street, or a snap judgment you make about someone you meet for the first time.
