Familiarize the primary target audience w/the required steps to perform ground & flight validation, per FAA Notice N8260.67. The target audience includes certain FAA & industry personnel directly associated with flight validation. Validation is the final quality assurance step in the procedure design process PBN IFP. The purpose of validation is the verification of all obstacle and navigation data, and assessment of flyability of the procedure. Validation normally consists of ground validation & flight validation. Before attending this course, participants should be familiar with the following FAA orders, notices and subject areas; FAA Order 8200.1 (U.S. Flight Inspection Manual), FAA Notice N8260.67 (Flight Validation of Satellite-Based PBN and Special WAAS IFP), AC 90-101 (Approved Guidance for RNP Procedures with SAAAR), Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) IFP design process and requirements for PBN operations, Terminal Instrument Procedures (TERPS) tools and FAA Orders 8260.3, 8260.52, 8260.54, 8260.44, 8260.46, 8260.42 and 7100.9. The primary target audience for this course is (1) industry personnel who are directly involved with flight and ground validation for their air carrier (e.g., pilots and service providers) and (2) certain FAA personnel who are directly associated with the FAA flight validation process and/or charged with the responsibility to qualify and provide oversight of nongovernmental flight validation service providers. Specific examples of FAA personnel and organizations are; Flight Standards ASIs (Operations), POIs, Technical Operations and Certificate Management Office (CMO). Other government employees may chose to take this course for informational purposes only, such as ASIs (Avionics), ATC Facility Managers, AJW TERPS Management or DOD personnel. | |||
