INACTIVE. This course describes FAA's role in the airborne electronic hardware approval process, policy and guidance, the Aircraft Certification AEH Job Aid for conducting AEH reviews, RTCA/D0-254, and other special engineering topics used to substantiate AEH. Students demonstrate their understanding by completing exercises that simulate the various stages of AEH review. PREREQUISITE: FAA22005004. AUDIENCE: ASEs responsible for approving or reviewing systems involving AEH. (NON-FAA: Course is optional for designees who conduct AEH reviews and international certification authorities on a limited basis. POC: Contact FAA Academy, AMA-220 at (405)954-4534.) Airborne Electronics Hardware Job Functions is a classroom instructor-led training course based on RTCA/DO-254 , AC 20-152, and FAA Order 8110.105 Chg 1. AIR-6B4, in harmonization with EASA, has drafted AC 20-152A and AC 00-AEH (best practices for AEH) planned for publication in May 2018. Subsequent to its publishing, FAA will delete all guidance from O8110.105. The revised guidance in AC 20-152A will be substantially different from existing guidance in AC 20-152 and O8110.105[]. Since the current training makes reference to AC 20-152 and O8110.105, FAA22100001 will be obsolete when AC 20-152A is published. FAA22100001 will not be offered to students in FY18 as originally planned. A request to replace the course content was submitted to the Aircraft Certification Training Branch in Sept 2017; however, it is anticipated the existing eLMS ID number will not be used. | |||
