The purpose of this training is to provide new AIR Aerospace Safety Engineers (ASEs) with an overview of the technical knowledge they will require to perform their jobs effectively. Subjects include the history of U.S. Governments involvement in aviation, and how aviation safety practices, rules, regulations, and procedures came about. This training provides AIR ASEs with an understanding the Roles and Responsibilities of the aircraft certification processes, regulations and policies for aircraft and associated products, and ensuring their continued safety. Topics include understanding aircraft systems, their types of operations, their operating environments and their effects, the correction process when airworthiness issues are discovered, and the application and certification process. This includes working with applicants, FAA ASEs and other AIR personnel, and representatives from the U.S. Government, the military, and foreign authorities involved in certification. This course includes practical group exercises focused on various aspects of Type Certifications, Oversight and Delegation, and Continued Operational Safety. This course is intended for AIR ASEs and those managing AIR ASEs. Internal Audience: This course is intended for Aircraft Certification Employees.
