| This course is designed for general aviation AW ASIs responsible for certification and surveillance of light-sport aircraft. The course consists of these topics: (1) overview of the light-sport rule, (2) experimental/special certification of light-sport aircraft, (3) light-sport consensus standards, (4) light-sport repairman inspection and maintenance ratings, (5) light-sport training, (6) registration procedures, (7) issuing airworthiness certificates, and (8) overview of the Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR). It is recommended the ASI become familiar with the following material related to this course: FAA Order 8900.1 Vol 5 Chap 5 Sect 6, Certificate Repairman for Light-Sport Aircraft ( 65.107); Advisory Circular (AC) 65-32, Certification of Repairmen (Light-Sport Aircraft) (latest revision); FAA Order 8130.2, Airworthiness Certification of Aircraft (latest revision). | |||
