The purpose of this course is to provide FAA Aviation Safety Engineers (ASEs) with the information needed to evaluate an applicants use of legacy software and associated tools in accordance with AC 20-115D, Airborne Software Development Assurance. This course requires prior working knowledge of DO-178B/DO-178C, Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification or the equivalent EUROCAE standards. Required Materials: Participants must furnish copies of DO-178C and DO-330, Software Tool Qualification Considerations (or EUROCAE equivalents). DO-178B, 331, 332, and 333 are beneficial. RTCA members and non-members may obtain these materials from www.rtca.org. (There is no charge to RTCA members for electronic copies.) FAA members should email RTCA at webmaster@rtca.org to establish individual FAA accounts. Internal Audience: This course is intended for Aircraft Certification Employees. External Audience: This course is available to non-FAA personnel. Prerequisite(s): None.
