This course is designed for FAA and Federal agency personnel responsible for the investigation of helicopter accidents, as well as engineering support personn and safety program managers. This course is also open to industry personnel who may be interested in learning rotorcraft accident investigation techniques. This course is open to active aircraft accident investigators only. No attorneys, insurance representatives, or consultants please. No previous helicopter experience is required. Persons with helicopter experience should attend to gain valuable rotorcraft investigation training. This course is offered to all other Federal agencies, foreign governments, and industry personnel on a first-come, first-serve basis. This course teaches operational problems uncovered during helicopter accident investigations. Students will study the latest techniques and procedures in rotorcraft systems operation, performance, airworthiness, crashworthiness, human factors, and specific design deficiencies. Course work includes hands on training with crash damaged parts, workshops, and a field trip to the bone yard. The course gives the inspector/investigator an in-depth look at the specifics of advanced accident investigation. The course features presentations by accident investigators from major helicopter manufacturers. It is presented on a level that provides advanced accident investigation techniques covering the latest technologies available. Target audience to include applicable support personnel.
