This course describes the theory and practice underpinning strategic planning, focusing on effective tools and techniques to empower executives to create compelling visions for their organizations and lead their people to achieve those visions. It includes a planning exercise in which participants will apply what they have learned to create a nascent strategic plan. Through this approach, participants will grasp the essence of strategic thinking the geographic, temporal and multi-dimensional thought process that are imperative for visioning and strategic-planning success. They will learn how to conduct organizational / environmental analysis, to include stakeholder analysis, organizational mandates, statutory and regulatory boundaries, SWOT analysis, current strategic issues, etc. They will create compelling mission and vision statements, and formulate strategies to enact their vision, to include developing metrics to measure progress Participants will complete a planning exercise during this program.
