| This course provides training for Specialists on the Medium intensity Approach Lighting Systems with Runway Alignment Indicator Lights (RAIL) Equipment. The course is 34 hours Academy Lecture, 38 hours Academy Laboratory, with 8 hours required to complete 89818 (ND118). The DoP is taken after successful completion of this course and is included in the course hours. System Key Performance and Certification Parameters that are not tested in the DoP will be individually tested in graded labs during the course. Instruction will include the use of applicable Maintenance Handbooks, Maintenance Requirements, Standards and Tolerance, Intervals, etc.; Use of TPR'S; and certification including Intervals, exceptions and Log Statement (s). Lecture subjects include MALSR Layout, Theory of Operation for MALSR TYPES FA-10097, FA-10098, FA-10290, FA-11500, FA-17900, and FA-21000, with or without Remote Monitoring Subsystems (RMS), and Remote Radio Control System Interface. Academy Lab will include Hands-on Familiarization, System Operation, Troubleshooting and General Maintenance tasks required to maintain an operating MALSR System.
