This course provides training for Technicians and Developmental Technicians on Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) Theory. Lecture subjects include general ILS theory, glide slope theory, and localizer theory. Laboratory subjects include radiation pattern analysis, equipment adjustments, and ILS test equipment. The learner must be proficient in basic algebra and trigonometry, as well as performing computations on a scientific calculator. Calculations are performed and used in examples throughout the student guide using a scientific calculator. All students will be required to use a scientific calculator throughout the course; a Casio FX 115ES Plus scientific calculator is recommended.
