The focus of the training is limited to basic familiarization of TERPS as it pertains to instrument approach procedures (IAP). Areas briefly covered in this course are introduction to general TERPS information, IFR, NAS,NavAids, obstacles, units of measurement, aircraft categories, aeronautical charts and publications, GPS/(RNAV), FMS and interruption impacts on the NAS. This specialized training is required to equip Command CenterOperational personnel and field ATSSs with the knowledge and skills to keep the NAS operating with minimal impact and to assist them in effectively preventing, resolving, and/or mitigating equipment failures across the NAS. This training will enable them to identify systemic effects of equipment outages and how they relate to terminal procedures, thereby enhancing cost efficiency and safety in the NAS.
