This course provides the theory of operations training for the Weather Message Switching Center Replacement (WMSCR) system now being hosted on the Integrated Enterprise Services Platform (IESP) with migration to Linux. Total length of course is 72 hours; broken into 56 hours for theory of operations and 16 hours of hands-on laboratory. Target Audience is Network Enterprise Management Center (NEMC) Airway Transportation System Specialists (ATSS) and 2nd Level Engineering Support personnel. The specialist will gain knowledge of system concepts, interconnectivity, hardware and software components which comprise the Weather Message Switching Center Replacement (WMSCR) system. In addition, there will be preventative maintenance and fault isolation topics/procedures discussed. This course covers the basic WMSCR system and components and networking concepts which include: VMware, XMENU access with Command Center Secure Gateway (CCSG), vCenter, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and FAA Weather Server System (FWSS) role and services for message processing. The WMSCR course allows the students to access the system and navigate using the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). The students will gain understanding of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) message structures and how weather messages/Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) are stored and/or retrieved as well as differentiate the source and types of weather messages. Managing circuits, notices, alarms and reports using the circuit monitor, edit queue and database will also be discussed. The course provides a basic understanding of Oracle Data Guard and how the WMSCR data is protected using database replication as well as characteristics of the WMSCR node configuration/status and circumstances that warrant a node switch. Finally, the basic monitoring functions of the HP OpenView (HPOV) using Network Node Manager i-series (NNMi), Operations manager for Windows (OMW) and Business Service Manager (BSM) will be demonstr
