| This course will certifiy the student to conduct lead containing coatings inspections, complete inspection reports, and collect post abatement soil and dust clearance sampling. Certified inspectors may perform inspection and post-abatement clearance activities. Qualifications for certification: 1.Pass an EPA-accredited inspector course. 2.Pass the EPA inspector certification exam. Course should include, but not be limited to, the following topics: Drivers: Applicable FAA, federal, state and local regulations; Background information on lead Potential health effects associated with exposure to lead; Roles and responsibilities; Medical surveillance; Lead-containing coating (LCC) inspection methods; Dust and soil sampling methods; Final inspection reports; Drivers: FAA Order 3900.19B Chapter 30 Lead Safety (Reserved); 29 CFR 1910.1025, (OSHA General Industry Lead); 29 CFR 1926.62, (OSHA Construction Lead); 40 CFR 745.225 Accreditation of training programs: target housing and child-occupied facilities; 40 CFR 745.226 Certification of individuals and firms engaged in lead-based paint activities: target housing and child-occupied facilities; Note: No individual or firm may offer to perform or perform any lead-based paint activity, unless certified to perform that activity according to the procedures in subpart 745.226. The activities that may be performed by this discipline (Lead Inspector) and the specific requirements for initial and refresher certifications are listed in 40 CFR 745.226.
