| Participants will be certified to supervise or direct any response action or maintenance activity relating to lead-containing coatings abatement activities. Certified Lead Supervisors may perform specific abatement activities, including oversight of abatement projects and preparation of the occupant protection plan and the abatement report. Qualifications for certification: Pass an EPA-accredited abatement supervisor course. Pass the EPA abatement supervisor certification exam. Course should include, but not be limited to, the following topics: Applicable FAA, federal, state and local regulations; Legal and insurance issues related to lead-containing coating abatement; Development of pre-abatement work plan; Hazard recognition and control; Respiratory protection and protective clothing; Medical surveillance; Employee information and training Project management; Contract specifications Supervisory techniques; Lead-containing coating abatement or lead hazard reduction to include prohibited methods; Interior and exterior dust abatement and clean-up or lead hazard reduction Soil, dust, and air sampling; Clearance standards and testing; Waste disposal; Community relations process; Cost estimation; Recordkeeping Drivers: FAA Order 3900.19B Chapter 30 Lead Safety (Reserved); 29 CFR 1910.1025, (OSHA General Industry Lead); 29 CFR 1926.62, (OSHA Construction Lead); 40 CFR 745.225 Accreditation of training programs: target housing and child-occupied facilities; 40 CFR 745.226 Certification of individuals and firms engaged in lead-based paint activities: target housing and child-occupied facilities; Note: No individual or firm may offer to perform or perform any lead-based paint activity, unless certified to perform that activity according to the procedures in subpart 745.226.
