| This course is designed for the new hire air traffic control specialist candidate and consists of classroom andlaboratory instruction. The instruction provided will enable the student to operate radar control position and solveradar air traffic control problems. The second part of the course is the TRACON SKILL ENHANCEMENT WORKSHOP(TSEW) FOR NEW HIRES. This course is designed for students selected to report to small to medium consolidated TRACONs and small to medium combined Tower/Tracon facilities. The course provides classroom instruction, then labinstruction consisting of vectoring; aircraft recognition and understanding of aircraft performance characteristics;issuing clearances of all types; scanning projecting ahead, and maintaining positive control; separation methods andpositive control; speed control, sequencing skills, and managing compression; and keyboard entry skills. These skillsare reinforced through classroom lecture, discussion, and high-fidelity simulation exercises using TRACON scenarioswith traffic complexity levels of nine and above. This course is a combination of the Terminal Basic Radar TrainingCourse, and the TRACON Skills Enhancement Workshop Course, however, the course is designed to be pass/fail, unlikea traditional workshop. | |||
