COURSE 2006-11-02
This course provides training for air traffic controller administrators involved in the construct, send, receive, or use of wind shear messages from observations or automatic systems. This course is 32 hours of lecture. It teaches the necessary wind shear information needed to determine the most effective wind shear systems for aerodromes of concern. The course is based on the ICAO Manual on Low-level Wind Shear and Turbulence, document 9817. ICAO Annexes 3 and 11 provisions for wind shear responsibilities, sources and dissemination are discussed. Advantages and disadvantages of the various wind shear detection systems are addressed for each wind shear type.
