| This course provides Electronics personnel with the requisite skills required to perform fiber optics projects assigned to Engineering Services. This course builds upon the foundational knowledge gained from the Fiber Optic Concepts course, by requiring the students to undertake fiber optic installation activities including cable routing and removal, various fusion splicing techniques, create cable baselines using Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and Optical Light meter and source, identify fiber patching scenarios to manage risk of outage caused by construction activities, and troubleshoot common faults experienced during fiber optics installations. By the end of this course, the Engineering Services student will be able to discuss and demonstrate the essential activities required for supporting fiber optics projects across the NAS. | |||
