The FAA Academys Basic Instructor Training (BIT) Blended Course is an essential 8-day program required for all FAA Academy instructors, designed to provide consistency in delivery and standardized content. The course establishes a uniform knowledge base of the five critical instructor tasks outlined in AMAWI-00007 Training Administration and Delivery and evaluated using the AMAWI-00033 FAA Academy Instructor Evaluation Criteria Matrix Course Structure Online Training (Days 15): Delivered through Blackboard and Microsoft Teams, the online portion includes asynchronous modules and live virtual sessions. This format provides a standardized approach for instructors to develop the same foundational knowledge of instructional responsibilities. In-Person Training (Days 68): Conducted at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center, the in-person sessions focus on practical application. Participants engage in workshops, lesson preparation, and presentations ranging from 5 to 30 minutes, evaluated using the AMAWI-00033 FAA Academy Instructor Evaluation Criteria Matrix Critical Instructor Tasks The program focuses on the following responsibilities as defined in AMAWI-00007 Training Administration and Delivery Accomplishing instruction assignments using the most effective instructional concepts and techniques. Preparing thoroughly for each instructional assignment to achieve readiness and confidence. Maintaining a classroom environment conducive to learning and reporting any conditions that disrupt learning to the appropriate authority. Identifying, counseling, or referring students who encounter academic difficulties or challenges impacting their ability to learn. Reporting all work-related illnesses and injuries involving students to the appropriate supervisor.
