Training consists of 14 hrs of in depth training on fall protection rescue methods and techniques. Employee must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to adequately perform rescue operations in accordance with the Alaskan Region Fall Protection Program. Extensive practical skill testing on climbing techniques including training on and off MSA ladder-rail (Dyna-glide) systems, FAA fall arrest systems and practical rescue techniques will be conducted during the class. Each employee must demonstrate proficiency on FAA rescue methods utilizing the MSA Deployed Rescue System with Anthron Descender. Successful completion of this course enables the employee to continue to be qualified to perform rescue operations in accordance with FAA rescue methods which include Assisted Rescue and Self Rescue as outlined in the FAA Alaska Region Tower Rescue MSA Deployed Rescue System Procedures. Training shall include: (1) the fundamentals of Fall Protection, including recognition and identification of Fall Hazards and a hierarchy for addressing fall protection hazards; (2) Review of Fall Restraint systems and Fall Arrest systems (MSA Deployed Rescue System utilizing the Anthron Descender) as applicable to rescue techniques; (3) Correct procedures for erecting, maintaining, disassembly and inspecting fall protection system to be used; (4) Review of Vertical Lifelines and associated hazards and limitations; (5) Review of ladder climbing devices as applicable to rescue techniques; (6) Personal fall arrest system equipment inspection (lecture and hands-on); (7) Calculating clearance distances; (8) Anchorage systems and requirements; and (9) Practical climbing techniques. | |||
